Mishaabooz’s Realm – Aug 15th

Experience this powerful & moving work COMMISSIONED by HOS in 2017 and WRITTEN in HALIBURTON COUNTY! Combining opera with First Nation singers and instrumentalists, created for HOS by Cree First Nation composer, Andrew Balfour, Mishaaboozs Realm takes us on a journey through Creation, Colonization, and ultimately Hope for the Future.

Ka’nasohon Kevin Deer, the Mohawk Elder Advisor for Mishaabooz’s Realm and cast member, will be offering a pre-performance chat, ‘Teachings from the Mohawk Longhouse’ on both performance evenings. These will be 30 minutes in length and will start at 6:45pm on the 15th & 17th.

There is also a post-performance discussion/Q&A including cast & creative team of Mishaabooz’s Realm that will take place onstage in the theatre immediately after the performances.
