Queen Hezumuryango is a Burundian-born mezzo-soprano whose experience and passion for music spans a variety of styles, including opera, recital, and musical theatre. She has been the fortunate recipient of the Ferguson, Gadbois and AIDA scholarships and participated in young artist programs, such as the Canadian Vocal Art Institute and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance. Some recent credits include Carmen in La tragédie de Carmen (Constant/Bizet), Third Wood Sprite in Rusalka (Dvorak), and Venus in Orphée aux enfers (Offenbach). As well as being an OSM Competition semi-finalist in 2021, she also began a doctorate in vocal performance at the University of Montreal, with a thesis exploring the contribution of black composers to classical music.
