Lissy Meyerowitz
Mezzo-soprano
Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) / Rosina - August 24th & 26th
Known for her “beautiful” and “focused” sound (La Scena Musicale), mezzo soprano Lissy Meyerowitz is an emerging voice from Toronto. She is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto Opera Master’s program, under the tutelage of Mark Daboll, where she performed in her graduating show as Le Prince Charmant in Massenet’s Cendrillon. She made her opera debut as Nicklausse in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann with the Halifax Summer Opera Festival in 2019. She has gone on to sing various roles, including La Baronessa in Nino Rota’s Il Cappello di Paglia di Firenze, Petermann in Offenbach’s M. Choufleuri and La Vecchia in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi in Vicenza, Italy with the International Lyric Academy. Lissy was a Sidgwick Scholar with the Orpheus Choir of Toronto from 2022-2023, most notably being cast as the Alto Soloist in Allan Bevan’s semi-staged choral work Perfectly Mad. She is thrilled to be singing her role debut as Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia with Highlands Opera in August 2024.
