Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) / Rosina - August 22nd & 25th
Originally from Burundi, Queen Hezumuryango holds both her master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Montreal and is a returning member of the Canadian Opera Company’s 2024-2025 Ensemble Studio. Some credits include Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, La marquise de Berkenfield in La fille du régiment, Mercédès in Carmen, Carmen in La tragédie de Carmen, Madame Larina in Eugene Onegin and Zita in Gianni Schicchi. She was a semifinalist in the OSM Competition in 2021 and has participated in prestigious programs such as the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, Highlands Opera Studio and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance. This year, she received an award for an outstanding performance at the Kurt Weill Foundation’s Lotte Lenya Competition, an Encouragement Award at the Regional Level at the Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition as well as the David and Ann Sutton Award from the Canadian Opera Foundation.
