Considered one of the emerging talents from latin America with a“deep and beautiful resonance,” and praised by his “Magnificent menacing voice” – Operawire. Mr. Ceballos was young artist in Bellas Artes Opera Studio in Mexico City, where he did his Bellas Artes debut on 2023 singing the role of Nourabad from "Les Pêcheurs de Perles" at Compañía Nacional de Opera de Bellas Artes. Mr. Ceballos recently performed in the concert “Bella noche de Musica” produced by Austin Opera and was the bass soloist in the Verdi's Requiem with the Ulster Orchestra in the UK.
Mexican Bass Baritone Ricardo Ceballos won first place in “The Dallas Opera Guild Lone Star Vocal Competition” on its 2020 edition and was a finalist on "The Dallas Opera National Competition" on its 2021 edition and 2nd place in the Linus Lerner International Voice Competition on it's 2021 edition. Mr Ceballos was a member of the Barbara and Halsey Sandford Studio Artist Program at Kentucky Opera during 2020/21 season. Mr Ceballos has been featured in performances as Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Dulcamara (l’elisir d’amore) and Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro) at IU Opera Theater, Mephistopheles (Faust) Colline (La Boheme), Simone (Gianni Schicchi), Friar Laurence (Romeo and Juliet), Melisso (Alcina), Zuniga (Carmen) and Il Commendatore (Don Giovanni). He has performed with many orchestras included: The Dallas Opera Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, IU Symphony Orchestra, Meadows Symphony Orchestra, Carmel Symphony, San Angelo Symphony, Irving Symphony, Plano Symphony, 5 de Mayo Symphony, OSSLA and more. On 2019 he won third place at the Central Regional finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, after being one of the winners from the same competition at the Indiana District, he also has won the first place at the “Indianapolis Matinee Musicale competition”. He sang in two performances of Donizetti and Co. at the Dallas Opera. He was a Studio Artist at The Chautuaqua Opera Company, where he sang the role of Caronte in l'Orfeo by Monteverdi.
He studied with Professor Peter Volpe and Professor Barbara Hill-Moore. Mr. Ceballos was born in Colima, Mexico and received training at IUBA (Mexico), CMA (Mexico), Indiana University (USA) and Southern Methodist University (USA). He was part of the young artist program at the International Society of Mexican Artistic Values (SIVAM) in Mexico where he had the opportunity to learn from: Teresa Rodriguez, Vlad Iftinca, John Fisher, Joan Dornemann, Jorge Parodi and Denise Massé.
