Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) / Count Almaviva - August 24th & 26th

Spencer VanDellen’s voice has been described as youthful, bright, and filled with colour. He studied with Benjamin Butterfield at the University of Victoria where he received a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. He recently graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Music, studying under Stanford Olsen, and is continuing his studies in Michigan as he will begin his Specialist of Music degree in the fall. Spencer has performed many Musical Theatre, Operetta, and Opera roles, and is looking forward to his summer engagements, that include a choir tour to Washington DC, and Argentina as well as performing as Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Highlands Opera Studio. He also performs concert repertoire regularly and has performed as the tenor soloist in works such as Beethoven’s 9 th Symphony (UVIC Orchestra), Wynton Marsalis’s All Rise (University Musical Society), and Bach’s Magnificat (University of Michigan Orchestra & Choirs & Victoria Philharmonic Choir).
