A "viscerally exciting" conductor, Joshua Anand Slater maintains a busy freelance conducting career as well as directing the classical program at Toronto’s largest Anglican church, St. Paul’s Bloor St. In Canada, Joshua leads Loose Tea Music Theatre’s BIPOC Composer-Librettist Development Program and will return to the company to music direct Inertia by Ashley Au and Christene Browne at Highlands Opera Studio in summer 2022, as well as workshopping other new pieces developed by Loose Tea. In March 2023 he will revisit Angel’s Bone by Du Yun, having produced the Grammy-nominated recording, as Associate Conductor for Toronto performances in March 2023 (re:Naissance Opera - LTMT - Array Music - Sound The Alarm - Turning Point Ensemble).
In New York Joshua is best known as the former Assistant Director of Music at Trinity Wall Street, where he worked regularly with Prototype Festival, White Snake Projects, NOVUS-NY, Helicon Society and Trinity Baroque and won praise for his "indispensable and unmissable” (New York Times) concert series; as well as the founder of fujit productions, a concert producer noted for platforming visible minority composers and performers (founded 2009). A specialist in arranging and orchestration, Joshua has recently revised and orchestrated works for composers associated with G. Schirmer, ECS, and Beth Morrison Projects.
