Robin Wheeler
Vocal Coach/Pianist
Robin Wheeler is a pianist, accompanist and coach who is highly regarded by singers. Over the past few years, he has served as a coach for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra's production of Strauss' Elektra, among others.
During his five years with New Hampshire's Opera North as Principal Coach and Assistant Conductor, he participated in productions of Tosca, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Ariadne auf Naxos, Carmen and La Traviata.
He has also been heard as an accompanist on Vermont Public Radio and CBC Radio. He has been a principal rehearsal pianist for productions of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Filumena, Frobisher, and John Estacio and John Murrell's Lillian Alling at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta. In the summer of 2013, he was the principal coach of Britten's Owen Wingrave.
In April 2007, he made his debut with Toronto's Opera in Concert as Music Director of Korngold's Die Tote Stadt. Since the summer of 2013, he has also been a vocal coach for the Canadian Institute for Vocal Arts (CVAI) in Montreal. Recently, he has been a guest judge for the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada and the Canadian Music Competition.
Robin Wheeler is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Music at the Université de Montréal. He has directed the Opera Workshop at the University of Montreal since 1999.
